Thinking of Giving the Gift of Reading this Holiday season? Check out these titles!

As the holidays approach quickly and the search for the perfect gifts for our kids looms large, perhaps you should think about the gift of reading.

I have recently been gifted several books and book series that I highly recommend for families. These books are fun, with fantastic illustrations and great stories, but they also teach wonderful lessons to children.

The first two books, from 4U2B Books are "Alphabet by Heart" and "Chilla Gorilla and Lanky Lemur Journey to the Heart". These two books are beautifully written and will encourage your children learn to help control anxiety and be kind to everyone they meet.

The first book, "Chilla Gorilla and Lanky Lemur Journey to the Heart" is written by New York Times Best Selling Author Kimberly Snyder and Jon Bier. It is illustrated by Donald Wu.

In this precious book Chilla Gorilla helps his friend Lanky Lemur access his feelings, turn frustrations into positivity, and to calm his troubled heart.
Chilla Gorilla is a kind and wise friend who teaches young Lanky Lemur how to calm down when upset and how to reset his emotions so that he can continue on through his day.
Throughout the book he repeats, "Feelings come and go, yet in your heart is a calm place where peace and love can grow."
I love the message of this book and the practical application it provides for children. At the back of the book you will even find a guide to heart-centered living for children complete with meditations to remember in times of frustrations.
This book is a must have for parents of children who struggle with regulating emotions but all children can learn valuable lessons from it while also enjoying a fun story.
Find it on Amazon here or by going to 4U2B's Instagram page.

The second book from 4U2B is "Alphabet by Heart" by Jeanne and Mark Shriver. It is illustrated by Laura Watson.
This book teaches "Kindness from A-Z" and should be an essential tool for educators or parents  teaching the alphabet who also want to encourage kindness but it also a great books for kids of all ages!

This book asks the question, "which way will you go when you use the letters? Will you make things worse or make things better?" It then uses the alphabet to teach words of encouragement, kindness and inspiration to all who read it.
Each beautifully illustrated page has a heart felt message that will teach your child that "the best way to learn the alphabet is by heart."

The next group of books, from Mama Bear Books, are  "Detective Stan the Crayon Man and the Missing Birthday Cake" by Christine Tussing and "The Day I Had.." series by Ashley Wall and Vaughan Duck.

These books are full of adventure that will be appealing especially to younger audiences who love to let their imaginations run wild.

The first book, "Detective Stan the Crayon Man and the Missing Birthday Cake" follows the mystery of  a young boy who uses science to solve a crime.
Stan has a big imagination! His adventure begins when his pink crayon begins to glow and he is taken into the world of his Crayon Friends in Colorful Country. He discovers Mellow Yellow's birthday cake is missing and he uses his knowledge of his friends, and what he has learned about what happens when the colors mix to help solve the case.
Stan's creative powers really shine and the story will be sure to captivate your young one's attention from start to finish.
Find it here on Mama Bear Books.

The next is a book series by Ashely Wall all about children who use their imaginations to wonder what their days would be like if they had a Dinosaur, a Bulldozer, or a Firetruck!

These books are so much fun and will teach your kids even more about some of their favorite subjects. The children in these stories must use problem solving skills, teamwork, and creativity to make it through each adventurous day.
If you have a little one who loves an adventure your whole family will love this series!

I hope that this list of titles helps you on your search for the perfect gifts this Christmas and I also hope it will inspire a love for reading in your kids this year!
